Adopting Newborns

I'm sure it would be a dream of many people to adopt a newborn so you get to enjoy a child from as young as possible. I'm curious if anyone where has done this? What was it like? Are you glad you did it over adopting an older child?

SimplyMe Posted at 20:02 on Fri, 08/05/2011I adopted a newborn baby boy and I'm really glad I did because it's the closest you can get to actually giving birth to your own child. I think when you adopt a child very young, you get to be more a part of their life. You know their past and create their future. I would have never done it any other way :)

Beth Posted at 21:36 on Sat, 08/06/2011I've never thought about adopting a newborn. Honestly, that freaks me out. The thing I love about adoption is you can select an age that fits you. I'm not sure why but the newborn years make me nervous because they're so fragile.

NewMommy Posted at 22:21 on Thu, 08/11/2011I adopted a baby girl in 2009. It was a rough process because of the history behind the case. She was being abused and so forth. I'm glad I got her out of her living situation and I can give her a life where she can feel safe and happy and never have to remember what it was like for her back then. I feel like I gave birth to her, that's how close we are. She's a total sweetheart and brings light to my life. I look in her eyes and I know everything will be okay.
Adopting an older child would have been fine for me, but I'm excited to get to be with Amber through everything. I get to experience all the firsts that I otherwise wouldn't have.. it makes it much more special.
