I was browsing the web earlier, and came across something that said a woman has the right to change her mind about the adoption process up to 48 hours after giving birth to her baby. I can't help but think about the family who was planning on adopting the child if that were to happen at the last minute like that. (This information was based in Florida btw)

Hmm.. I've never heard of
Melanie Posted at 02:01 on Tue, 10/25/2011Hmm.. I've never heard of this rule before. I'm sure it's different depending on where you live. That would be really rough for both parties. I'm sure the real mother would feel terrible if she were to change her mind like that and the parent(s) waiting to adopt would be completely devastated.
They probably have this rule in place because once mothers see their children, it can be easy to realize you've made a mistake.
I don't know if I agree
Bubblez Posted at 21:48 on Wed, 10/26/2011I don't know if I agree with that law. I think things should be set in stone sooner, unless some sort of arrangement is made with the family planning to adopt so they know the mother needs some extra time after the baby is born to be 100% sure. I think, as long as both parties are completely aware of what's going on and there is honesty and communication there, then it could work. Definitely not the ideal situation though for parents who are excited to adopt to find out they no longer have a baby on the way. Mother does come first though so that part makes sense.
Really tricky situation,
SimplyMe Posted at 03:01 on Wed, 11/02/2011Really tricky situation, isn't it? It really got me thinking. I'm just glad I'm not one of the people who has to write laws or anything.. can you imagine the stress?!
I think, for the mother
Lovely Posted at 15:54 on Thu, 11/10/2011I think, for the mother giving birth; this may seem like a good idea but it's probably not. Once the mother sees her baby, it can be tough to not have her change her mind. I think this could cause her to change her mind for the wrong reasons, when she truly doesn't have what the baby would require. For example, a long-term plan, and support system etc...
