The decision whether to adopt is a major one involving strong emotions and many economic issues. Before making a decision, one should ask whether it will be in the best interest of all parties or simply to fulfill some selfish needs or voids in life. Most couples adopt out of infertility so do consider what happens to the adopted child if a biological child comes along after the adoption. After the decision is make to adopt, then consider all options and the attributes of the child suitable for your adoption. It is again a very long and tedious process.

This is a really good
Johnathen Posted at 02:43 on Mon, 07/18/2011This is a really good point. Being in charge of someone else's well being should not be taken lightly. The decision should only be made when you know you're ready.
Adoption cannot be taken
Beth Posted at 19:40 on Sat, 07/23/2011Adoption cannot be taken lightly, if you aren't 100% sure, then it's not a good time. Any doubt should be addressed beforehand.
I personally had my own
Lovely Posted at 20:16 on Wed, 09/07/2011I personally had my own child before deciding to adopt. Everyone does it differently but no matter your specific situation; it's always important to think long-term. Are you going to be making enough money to support a child? What age are you looking to adopt? What will you do if the adopted parents come back in the picture? There is plenty of support out there for everyone: books, therapy, support groups etc.
